LED RECESSED LIGHTS–5 THINGS TO KNOW:
1. COLOR TEMPERATURE MATTERS–LED lights produce color in a far wider range than incandescent bulbs. When you buy LEDs be sure to check their package Bulbs in the 3000k range produce yellowish light. LED bulbs in the 4000-5000k range produce far whiter or even bluish light. Light color can interact adversely with the paint color on your walls!
2. USE DIMMER SWITCHES–Many people feel that LED recessed lights are too bright. So, it’s often a good idea to install them on dimmer switches. But remember: light is produced differently in an LED bulb, and they work on a far lower wattage. For this reason, they don’t always work well with typical dimmer switches. You’ll most likely want to install them on CL DIMMER SWITCHES.
3. SPACING IS IMPORTANT: Harrison and CCS TRIANGLE ELECTRIC feel that LED recessed lights should rarely be spaced more than 4′ apart in a linear path. This helps blanket the room with light. Also, lights should rarely be closer to a wall than 2′. This helps create Wall Washing–effective light coverage of the wall.
4. INCREASED MOBILITY–With the invention of ultra-thin LED recessed fixtures, can lights can now go almost anywhere, including directly beneath framing obstructions.
5. GADGETS GALORE!–LED recessed lights are now incorporating more gadgets, including built-in blue tooth speakers. These units are pricey, but they are very easy to retrofit.

Great video, but with regards to the pink walls. The CRI of the LED is very low. Would be a cheap make. Try aim for <90 CRI to get proper color rendering.
Hello I was wondering why my led recessed lights stay very dim even when light switch is off. Thanks
The thin ones one can get them for about $10.00 each
We just bought a new mobile home and in the master bedroom there are 2 4” low profile led recessed lights in the ceiling… how hard would it be to remove one of them and replace with a small ceiling fan? What kind of mount would I need to buy or do they even make one that would fit directly in there without having to chop up our new house?
Fantastic Video! my paranoia lies in replacing the bulbs. what happens down the road when the bulb eventually dies?
There are 2 black and 2 white wires coming from my ceiling but the light fixture I bought only has 1 white and one black. Can someone please explain how to connect these?
Stimulating…like the package de Trump.
I have a 5×2.5 feet walk in shower. I want day light. How many should I put and what size?
3000k or 2700k for kitchen? Can't decide
Led lights might only be 1.5" thick, but no mention of the transformer.
Great video, thank you.

I like the idea of the can lights over hanging baskets outside. There are some really good horticultural diodes available now on the market (around 3,000-4,000k), like Samsung's LM301B that mean you can kill two birds with one stone. The 120w logic pucks by Growmou5/ChilLED would be perfect if you could find a way to waterproof the system. Might not even be needed with so many LED's now being made to at least ip65 standard. Exciting times ahead for my home.
What about insulation over the top of the led lights? Does there have to be a space?
Before making any definitive decisions, it's best to start by researching what's on the market.
Can't know if you like something if you don't know it exists.
Cri has the most relevance to true colour rendering……
Thanks for the short and to the point video.
Jeezsus, I learned more in four minutes than I did watching a 20+ minute upload on lighting install… theory and practice are often different, glad for the upload.
Issue #6: the LED washes to much. Recessing the LED more into the fixture is needed and this adds cost to a more effective fixture. LED fills the room or wall space hitting to high up the wall. Lighting is more interesting when creating contrast between light and shadow. LED blankets walls to much, thus making very little accent or contrast. Using three different light sources is really needed in any room: general purpose, task, and accent.
Whiter lights may have made the brown walls look better, but it makes the people in the room look like crap. Looking washed-out, ghostly, or whitish is not the right approach to lighting.
Just went to the local tile store and was told never put stacked stone in a shower, impossible to clean.
What size you look to be using 6 inch but I heard that 5 and 4 are less noticeable. What do you think?

Very pleased with those lights•ᴥ•>share4.photo/RecessedLighting?κ looks good and super easy to install (if you have a setup ready).
5000k is too harsh for the home. I use 3000k in every room.
Love your channel! I like all the information that you put at the bottom as well. I have a question what brand and where did he get the light speakers from the bathroom
Great video and very informative i do have a question though, I’m finishing my basement and my ceilings are about 6’7” tall a bit short but we wanted to do recessed lighting i was wondering if that would be too low to throw the light out properly? Any suggestions? Thanks!
overall good video, however light in the 5k + range with the bluish color are not good for your eyes. yo want something around 3,500k, max 4000k. anything more than 4000k might be "cool" looking for say a basement to give a modern effect.. If you put 5-6000k+ in your bedroom or living room it will mess with your sleep
Well done video, with good, concise info!
Can you provide manufacturer name/link for that shower light speaker ? Thanks !
Do you have a link to a recommended fixture with the bluetooth speaker technology? Thanks for the great video.
Very informative video. I have a question regarding the recessed LED lights. I added caseta dimmer switchs in two different rooms that already had 4 led bulbs. Both sets behave the same such that when they are dimmed below 50% there is a very noticeable flicker. It happens for both rooms. My kitchen also has a caseta (preinstalled by builder) switch and the kitchen also has four LED recessed lights. There is no issue with that set when I dim them. Is it possible that the bulbs that flicker are not the same type. Are there recessed leds that must be marked as dimmable? Thanks In advance for your help
