Laptop Battery Myths (Official Dell Tech Support)


There are still many laptop battery myths, so here are some facts about your laptop battery to help answer common questions about today’s laptop batteries and their performance.

Keep in mind that Dell Commercial laptops don’t show 100% battery charge straight out of the box. Currently for Battery Health you will only see a percentage showing the battery health: from 0% to 100%, typically brand new systems show a value of 90%, which gives the impression that the battery is already 10% discharged. Reason being is that the related software needs multiple charge/discharge cycles to properly calculate the battery capacity.   1. How can i make sure that a particular battery is of my laptop? A Dell repair guy replaced my dell laptop screen and iam suspicious that he exchanged my laptops battery with another one because my battery is dying really fast after he repaired my laptop

  7. Battery lives for little less than a year when used a lot? Huh, that explains why it dies at almost 50 percent (yes, I recalibrated the battery already)

  8. On the older notebooks discharging until power off while in the F2 bios screen would re calibrate the charge level in the internal battery electronics. Especially when the computer is used predominately connected to the mains, the Empty level seems to creep up.

  9. if you have latest dell model laptop you can use "Dell power management" to not charge your battery until 100% and use direct power instead
