BONUS TIPS: If you’re shopping for shoes to use, bring the battery pack (or something about the same size) with you. Try the shoes on, then place the battery pack inside the shoe. Then you will be able to tell whether or not the shoes will work for this project! Not all shoes will work!
And if you want to use shoes with real bendy soles, just put the lights around the back of the shoe, because then the lights won’t get stressed around the point where your foot bends! [see here: for an example]

Forgive me for not reading through 3,000 comments, but hopefully this shows up for anyone who wants to make them: you can get LED strips like this that pull apart at the joins instead of being cut; that might be a good solution for people who have a strong bend in their shoes from where they walk. (You'd just end up reconnecting the LEDs, rather than replacing them.)

great vid, the shoes aren't really my style but if have trouble finding shoes to fit you, shoe style or the colour of the shoes this would make a compromise. Great the shoe fit, style and colour you want and then add the lights in a way that works for you. Handy for some occasions.
currently trying to make good looking platform shoes, with a hidden compartment to put like money in but i’m having trouble with how, any ideas?!
